3rd Pakistan – Hong Kong Trade and Investment Forum

During International Virtual Rawal Expo 2020 Pakistan Hong Kong Trade and Investment Forum was Organized on 14th August. The aim of the forum was to create awareness for trade enhancing measures during COVID-19 outbreak and increasing interaction between businessmen of both the countries. President, SVP of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Chairman International Rawal Expo hosted the Forum while Mr Bilal Ahmad Butt, Consul General of Pakistan in Hong Kong was the Guest speaker. Mr Asim Malik (Consul) and Mr Ali Awan Trade Development Officer also attended as panellists.

Consul General explained about the economy of HK, trade opportunities for Pakistani businessmen in HK, competitors strengths, and the scope of new products from Pakistan. Consul General expressed that the current policies of government of Pakistan and support of TDAP will bring substantial increase in exports of Pakistan to HK. He also informed the participants about the current status of protocol for import of meat and poultry products to HK and efforts of consulate to facilitate exporters of Pakistan in this regard.
He appreciated the efforts of RCCI for connecting businesses through virtual activities to enhance Pakistani exports. Mr Butt said “Our office is ready to serve the business community 24/7 from all around the word.
Mr Asim Malik informed the audience about IT sector and its export potential , reexport and import of the electronic goods and the market volume of the services sector in HK.

Consul General invited the PASHA members to participate in IT expos in near future and highlighted the volume of venture capital market of HK. Mr Ali Awan explained about the yearly international Trade Fairs relating to the Textile, Leather , surgical , Gems, Sports and Fruit sectors. He informed that our competitors like India , Bangladesh , Vietnam and Thailand have substantial participation in these fairs. A sizeable participation of Pakistani exports in these fairs can bring positive results.

On conclusion Consul General Hong Kong and President of RCCI agreed to hold further rounds of conferences for export of various products with special focus on Gems and Jewellery and IT sectors.
